Kathleen's sculptures: I have been creating sculpture now since the early 90's after completing a 2yr partime Visual Arts Course at Werrington Tafe in Sydney. My interest in welded steel sculpture began after moving to Merriwa and then Grenfell. I thought it was a shame all these decorative machinery pieces were just going to the scrappy to be melted down and sent overseas. I felt the historical value was being lost and that Grenfell having a rich farming history, it was important to preserve this. I'm told I look pretty mean weilding a 9 inch angle grinder and husband Dave even gives me respect! My favourite pastime is scrounging at the tip or on farms when invited. I have exhibited at Werrington Tafe, Merriwa Festival of the Fleeces Art Show, Kalari Wines, Grenfell Art Gallery, Henry Lawson Festival Art Show, Rotary Art Show, Cowra Recycled Art Comp and Lockhart 'Spirit of the Land'. I also welcome visitors to my garden to view my sculptures by appointment.
